Siemens and Micromuse Partner to Provide Service Management Solution for
IP, ATM, and Frame Relay Fixed Networks

SAN FRANCISCO – Micromuse Inc. (Nasdaq: MUSE), the leading provider of ultra-scalable, realtime business and service assurance software, today announced that Netia has purchased and is currently implementing Netcool® solutions as the core event management platform for its entire IP, ATM, and Frame Relay service delivery infrastructure. Netia is the largest independent fixed telephony provider in Poland, delivering converged voice and data service, and wholesale network services over a wholly-owned, fully digital fiber optic network. The Netcool suite of products is expected to increase Netia’s operational efficiency and service visibility as the company continues to capitalize on Poland’s growing business communications market.

“Micromuse’s Netcool solution help to further support our customers and differentiate its services through enhanced service level agreements and guaranteed uptime. The Netcool solutions will also enable Netia to offer superior service quality for innovative new services, such as Voice over IP and IP-based data services.” – said Michał Kamiński, manager of Network Management Department, Netia.

Netia required a scalable service management solution to rapidly identify and resolve service-affecting faults and support service level agreements in realtime and provide business and service analytics to help map future service delivery priorities. Prior to deploying the Netcool suite, Netia relied upon a variety of element, device, and domain management tools to monitor its complex network infrastructure and the services its delivers. Netia selected Micromuse’s Netcool solutions for business service management for cost-effective consolidated operations management and advanced service quality management, visibility and intelligence. The complete, end-to-end Netcool implementation delivers automated, flexible fault discovery and fault correlation, analytics and automations of its IP-based services. Further, Micromuse’s extensive library of over 1,000 off-the-shelf integrations facilitated the rapid deployment of the Netcool solutions across Netia’s multi-vendor network components, services, and applications.

Siemens Communications, a Micromuse Channel resale partner, delivered the design and implementation of Netia’s network and systems management infrastructure in conjunction with Winuel, a Polish systems integrator. Micromuse, Siemens and Winuel collaborated closely to ensure the rapid implementation of the Netcool solutions and to deliver a management solution that provides Netia with a scalable service assurance solution and fast return on investment.

“Eastern European markets are growing rapidly and leading service providers such as Netia require service management solutions that will maximize existing infrastructure investments, scale to meet rising subscriber numbers and provide service visibility and assurance to help bring new services and products to market,” said Richard Lowe, Micromuse’s Senior Vice President for Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Micromuse’s Netcool solutions provide a single, effective management interface that provides business intelligence, service visibility and fault monitoring in realtime, all the time to operations staff, business managers and customer care teams.”
