SAN FRANCISCO – Micromuse Inc. Ericsson manages the voice and data communications networks for approximately 12 carrier and enterprise customers across Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Samoa, as well as numerous service provider infrastructures including Commander, a provider of business telephone systems, internet products, and mobile digital networks for small and medium enterprise, and Unwired, a wireless broadband WiMAX services provider. Ericsson implemented Micromuse’s Netcool® solutions for advanced service management which allows them to provide the best possible quality of service for their carrier and ISP customers. Ericsson is a strategic partner with Micromuse and cooperated closely to develop joint technology solutions for leading telecommunications and enterprise service providers across the world.

“Margin erosion, consolidation, technology changes, branding, and global competition bring new strategic challenges to today’s managed service providers. To succeed in this market, providers must be laser-focused on keeping services affordable and their ability to guarantee customer satisfaction,” said Ammar Hindi, Managing Director, Asia Pacific region, Micromuse. “Netcool solutions provide Ericsson with a complete and transparent view of their customers’ infrastructure and the services they provide to their customers, giving them a significant competitive advantage and ability to exceed customer expectations.”

The solution is helping Ericsson centrally manage and provide consolidated, service-level views across 25 customer networks ranging from fiber to the home, fixed-line networks, IP networks, GSM mobile networks, and international gateways to satellite networks, trunk radio, and wireless broadband. The complete Netcool solution provides consolidated operations management, including correlation and auto-discovery of IP networks, proactive service management of systems and internet services, and advanced service quality management and remote service visibility. The solution enables Ericsson to manage complex IT infrastructures, deliver differentiated service level commitments, and extend self-help customer care systems efficiently and cost-effectively.
